This pale wood nicely complements the colours of the stonework in the chapel, but, this tableau
really comes alive when viewed in darkened room with just a bright candle in the manger.
The Light casts its gentle glow onto everyone, but especially onto Mary and the baby Jesus.
Under a flickering light the image of Mary breast feeding the newborn baby becomes compelling,
the ultimate expression of human vunerability.
The darker the room the more you are drawn to the Light, and are struck by its divine nature.
